Day 8: Lasagna with Meat Sauce

Hey Frozen Pasta Pals,

I went to college at Virginia Tech, a school constantly being ranked amongst the best campus dining in the country. We had a copious amount of great choices. We had a Habachi grill and a steakhouse on our meal plan, but my favorite dining hall was Owens. Owens was a mall food court of a relic decorated like a 2004 teen furniture catalog. It wasn't fancy but it did have damn good lasagna. Today I put Lean Cuisines Lasagna to the test and see how it stacks up against my college memories.
Is that a heavenly choir I hear? There is no stirring involved in this meal! I don't have to take it out and perform any kind of small ritual or ceremony. You just put it in and it cooks. This is the high life. Again - not sure about the amount of cheese but this portion looks huge for 320 calories; i'd equate it to a small boat of lasagna. It smells delectable but I made the mistake of reading the ingredients and now I know it's cottage cheese, not ricotta, and i'm having a hard time coming to terms with it.

So it wasn't love at first taste. The Noodles are the overwhelming ingredient here and they are a bit tough. The taste as a whole is pretty good but the structure of the whole thing is questionable. It's hard to cut into this without turning it into an unrecognizable mess. The corner bites are the best because you don't feel like a complete failure trying to get it on your fork. I'm almost positive the bottom layer is where all the meat is which just doesn't make sense and I need to write an angry letter about it. This dish had big dreams but in the end fell apart, not unlike Lindsay Lohan's career. Thankfully - there's another lean cuisine lasagna flavor to try! Don't give up hope yet!
